Having big stars in the cast of a movie is not enough to guarantee its success. It helps to have a well-known cast, but a good storyline is what will make the movie a box-office hit.
Such is the case of Star Cinema's Unexpectedly Yours which is currently on its second week in cinemas. It has veteran actors Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla, plus the one of today's hottest love teams - Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto (JoshLia).
Big stars. Plus it was directed by the box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Fans of the cast may have flocked to the cinemas on the first few days, but it was the good reviews based on its storyline and the kilig it offered that made Unexpectedly Yours steadily attract moviegoers and earn more in the box-office.
Based on the figures released by Star Cinema, the ShaBin (Sharon and Robin's love team) reunion movie has already earned P157-million as of Sunday, December 10. That's two days short of a two-week run.
Unexpectedly Yours had a P14-M opening day on November 29. After three days, which included a national holiday (Nov. 30), its movie production outfit revealed that it already grossed P50-M (as of Dec. 1). It breached the P100-M mark on its sixth day.
Graded "A" by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), the movie is expected to have a third week run based on how it is doing in the box-office.
